The construction of the Maryborough Community House was made possible by a grant of $10,000 from Maryborough City Council and $10,000 from Ministry of Housing.
2500 mudbricks were required. These were made in a week by residents with the help of Community Youth Support Scheme, Service Clubs, the Parish Council and mudbrick enthusiasts. It is worthy of note that one female resident, Pat Wyhoon made several hundred bricks single handed! Other residents provided mudbrick makers with generous morning and afternoon teas at the Community House.
The feeling of participation and self help has been a source of pride in involvement to residents who are actually aiding in the construction of their Neighbourhood Centre.
